North Carolina Weight & Wellness is a premier physician-supervised medical weight loss center that has an additional focus on wellness. Our medical practice is patient-centered. Important features of our practice include the following items:
1. Board Certification. Your care will be under the supervision of a board certified specialist in obesity medicine; Dr. McIlveen has Certification in Obesity Medicine by the American Board of Obesity Medicine. The American Board of Obesity Medicine notes that Certification in Obesity Medicine demonstrates "commitment to a higher level of competency in the serious practice of obesity medicine." "Certification signifies excellence in the practice of obesity medicine. It distinguishes a physician as having a higher level of competence and understanding in obesity care by completing specialized education. Obesity medicine physicians meet rigorous qualification and assessment requirements."
2. State-of-the-art Body Composition Analysis. All patients receive Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA) with a sophisticated printed report (not a short strip of paper used by some programs) that determines your body fat mass, Percentage of Body Fat (PBF), Body Mass Index (BMI), skeletal muscle mass, skeletal muscle distribution (Segmental Lean Analysis) of body parts, and Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR). This testing is then repeated as your weight loss progresses.
