About Dr. McIllveen

Peter McIlveen, MD, FACOG, ABOM, is a board-certified physician with nearly two decades of training and experience in obesity medicine.  North Carolina Weight & Wellness of Elkin and Cornelius, North Carolina, is the culmination of years of successful weight loss care and counseling for men and women in and around Winston-Salem.

Dr. McIlveen earned a bachelor’s degree from Duke University in 1984, where he earned the Duke University President’s Senior Leadership Award. In 1987, he received a master’s degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute before pursuing a career in medicine.

In 1999, Dr. McIlveen earned a medical degree from the University of Connecticut. Four years later, he completed a residency at the Orlando Regional Medical Center. Dr. McIlveen is one of the few board certified obesity medicine specialists in the greater Winston-Salem area.
